Every five minutes they turn,
with their tires like sirens,
tusking the dirt up on the creek road,
and drive back through town--
slowing down on Main Street, manoeuvring
between the farmers' cars, hooting
at girls on the pavement who reply
with little hen movements, laughing, waiting.
The boys sport leather jackets and levis,
but that's their underwear,
the car is their real clothing:
at Taylor's Corner they turn again,
their Hollywood mufflers
making sounds furious, derisive, vulgar--
like a bear growling and breaking wind,
and roar through Main Street again.

The Greek community of Ottawa is hosting a Greek Fest this week. It is not a big event that is located at one of the big parks in the downtown core of Ottawa. Rather, it is at the parking lot in front of the Hellenic Cultural Centre which has tents for selling products and art about Greece and a Greek cafe that serves authentic Greek lunch and dinner. The centre stage is for cultural performances that are playing throughout the week.

Farmland at Richmond Road x Stonehaven Drive
This is what happened to Ottawa's agriculture when new housing development is flourishing in the suburb. Two new community developments are next to this big farm, but farmers have to give up farming due to the attractive price of land, the high cost of raw material and labour, as well as the hard work to farm in a non-agricultural economic environment.

Homemade cat's ear pasta
- all purpose flour

Recently, I watched a series of video clips hosted by a famous home-cooking chef in Taiwan. She taught me to make this classic noodle dish. From the beginning, she prepared the dough of the cat's ear pasta by the ratio of 4 cups of flour to 1 cup of water before kneading the dough into a flat sheet. Then, she cut the dough into small cubes and used her thumb to press and push each cube forward. The press and push caused the cube flat and curl, which the final shape she described it as the ear of a cat. Once the pasta had formed, she prepared the other ingredients and sauteed them when the pasta was being cooked in a pot of boiling water. When the pasta was done, she drained the pasta and stirred the pasta with the sauteed ingredient prior to serving.
Although this is my first attempt to make noodles, I feel great! It was fun and I could be creative. The shapes of the noodles I made were slightly out of shape comparing with the images of what cat's ear pasta should be looked like in the video. However, it tasted good and chewy. I will make some more next time to perfect my skill of making noodles.

Have you ever thought of the relations between wool and aquarium? Well, I have not!!! To my surprise yesterday, I saw a display of an art show called "Marine 'Cwool' World: Knitting Arts Show" at a shopping centre in Hong Kong. These marine animals in the photos are knitted by amateurs who are doing this art show for earthquake relief donation. The most important thing in the display, however, is that it has inspired me to continue to be imaginative in my creative in origami as well as other art works.
